Matthew Scott Hazelwood, 26, Eldora, was sentenced to concurrent five-year prison terms and fined a total of $1,500. Hazelwood entered guilty pleas to charges of 2nd degree theft and possession of a controlled substance- 3rd offense.

Hazelwood was arrested in Toledo by Police Chief Jeff Harnish on Oct. 27, 2009, for the theft of a car in Marshalltown. He was arrested on the drug charge after Toledo officer Ben Engle found a material which court records said tested as methamphetamine in the back seat of a patrol car in which Hazelwood had been held in custody.

Vincent Duncan, 64, rural Tama, was sentenced to five years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to 3rd offense drunken driving. He was fined $3,125. He is to be assigned to a treatment facility.

Duncan was charged on May 31, 2009, in the 1800 block of Meskwaki Road by Meskwaki Tribal Police Officer Scott Brammer.

Duncan also pled guilty on Jan. 21 to a pair of charges of 3rd offense public intoxication. He received 30 day jail terms and $625 fines on each charge.

Victor Manuel Jauregui, 23, Des Moines was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $1,250. He pled guilty on Oct. v22 to 1st offense drunken driving. He was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $872 to Kenny McAdoo, Tama, for damage to a car following an accident.

Jauregui was charged on June 18, 2009, at U.S. 30 and Q Avenue by Toledo Police Officer Brian Randall. A hearing on a claim for $120 from Jauregui for the Toledo officer's time spent on the case was set for Feb. 10.

Oct. 8, 2009, with serious domestic assault resulting from an alleged physical altercation with his sister in which there was bodily injury to both. The charge was field by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.
