On Saturday, October 8, Dysart will host its Seventh Annual Wine and Beer Tasting Fall Festival from 4-8 p.m. on Main Street. Eleven Iowa wineries and two Iowa breweries are scheduled to participate in this year's event. Committee members report that the Fall Festival continues to grow each year with more than 425 patrons in attendance in 2010. The committee, which includes Deb Ewoldt, Wendee Goken, Julie McLaughlin, Carol Zeien and Russ Grimm, is planning for continued growth in this year's Iowa Wine and Beer Tasting Fall Festival. The participation of the Iowa wineries and breweries, the public enthusiasm and the local support through their financial and volunteer assistance has continued to strengthen this very popular local fall event. Local businesses, the Dysart Development Corportation and the Dysart Business Builders are hosting the event. Each winery and brewery will be set up in a business on Main Street and the tasting participants will go from building to building sampling the Iowa wines and beers being presented. This arrangement has worked well because patrons can remain warm and dry if there is inclement weather. All wines and beers being tasted will be available for purchase from the wine or beer representative. Patrons will register with the Dysart H. A. T. Team where they will receive an engraved wine glass commemorating the event and a booklet explaining the Iowa wine and beer selections that are available for the tasters to experience and purchase, for a fee. Throughout the evening, music will be provided by Jeff Mattison. In addition, food booths and specialty booths will be set up for interest and enjoyment. Vintage cars will be on display on Main Street. A beer brewing presentation by Andrew Saucke will be held at 5:30 p.m., and a wine 101 presentation will be given by Penny Fitzgerald at 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 8, from 4-8 p.m. for Dysart's Iowa Wine and Beer Tasting Fall Festival. Join together with friends and visitors to support Dysart and the Iowa wineries and breweries.
