The Dysart Reporter was recently honored at the 2013 Iowa Newspaper Association Awards Banquet on Friday, February 8, in Des Moines.
Presentations were made to winners of the INA Better Newspaper Contests, which were judged by members of the South Dakota Newspaper Association.
Ross Bercik, managing editor, was awarded second place in the Best Breaking News Story category for the June 20, 2012 story "Wild chase ends with arrest." The story covered a police chase through Tama County that ended with a Black Hawk County Jail escapee being captured.
The Dysart Reporter is classifed as a Weekly Class 1 newspaper, based on circulation. The Marshalltown Times-Republican was honored with 18 awards in the Daily Class 1 newspaper group.
This marks the first time the Dysart Reporter has been honored by INA in several years and is an accomplishment the newspaper is proud of.
