For the Union Knights boys basketball team, a new year and some home cooking may be just what the team needs to get back on track after a 3-5 start to the 2015-16 season.
The boys host Dike-New Hartford and Sumner-Fredricksburg in back-to-back home contests on January 8 and 12, respectively.
So far this year, the Knights have been led offensively by a trio of juniors: Drew Edwards, Cael Lambe and John Boisen. Edwards, who leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game, has also been distributing the ball efficiently to his courtmates with a team-high 3.4 assists per game. Edwards also leads Union with 18 steals on the season.
Lambe has been a force on the boards, leading the team with 5.5 rebounds per game while averaging just under 10 PPG scoring. Boisen, who is averaging 9.1 PPG, has also netted a 4.1 RPG average.
Daycen Dougles (5 PPG, 4 RPG), Koby Alpers (4.9 PPG, 3.3 RPG) and Jace Glenn (4.1 PPG) have also been important contributors who will be an important part of the team's success in the early part of 2016.
