The Dengler Domain: Music Battle Royale 5 (Valentine's Day Edition)

Love is in the air, candy hearts are shared, and roses are red. It is Valentine's Day, the holiday full of love. A very thoughtful, endearing holiday, and in numerous ways, love is shown. Some through gifts, others through poems, but music is most important. It is time for Music Battle Royale: Valentine's Day Edition! In one corner stands, "I Can't Stop Loving You" by Ray Charles. In the other, "How Deep is Your Love" by the Bee Gees.

This 1962 cover of Dong Gibson's "I Can't Stop Loving You" is beautifully done by Ray Charles. The song is slow and melodic, but it reaches to unknown parts of the heart. Ray's beautiful voice makes me want to spend eternity with this song. I feel at ease with everything in the world listening to Ray's rendition. Mr. Charles perfectly hits every note to the simple beat of this song. The background singers provide a great contrasting sound to Ray's voice. The call and response parts of this song are well done. This feature is long missed in today's musical world. This song is a slow dance song with the simple rocking back and forth rhythm.

This Bee Gees 1977 hit, "How Deep is Your Love" has the disco feel, and that is no problem. These men's beautiful voices turn any song into a great one. The rhythm is simple and elegant providing an amazing background. I love any song with multiple singers because it provides unique flavor to a song. All three of their voices complement each other in this heartfelt song. The only part I do not like is when they excessively sing "da da da" for twenty seconds. Hitting the high notes by going falsetto is Barry Gibb's specialty, and it is glorious. Listening to how high he goes makes the song a beautiful adventure. These guys' voices are the best at making a song a seductive one.

Here we are at the end of this wonderful Music Battle Royale. Both songs are beautiful love songs, and speak to the heart of any two lovebirds. Listening to these songs on Valentine's Day is a wonderful idea. Enough beating around the bush, the winner of the Music Battle Royale: Valentine's Day Edition is "How Deep is Your Love." The group aspect of this song gives it a slight edge over Mr. Charles. The high notes Barry hits is another factor. The amount of people who rollerbladed in love to this song was probably astounding. This beautiful song is a treat to listen to, and that concludes another edition of the Music Battle Royale.
