On March 2nd, over 40 parents, grandparents, and children met at the Dysart Community Building for the first Kids Jump Time, a free event sponsored by the Dysart Development Corporation. The City of Dysart also waived the rental free for the community building. There were attendees from Dysart, La Porte City, Van Horne, Traer, and other local towns.
Jade Ewoldt, of Dysart, planned the event because she is a stay at home mom who is always looking for new ways to connect with other parents who stay home with their kids. She also wants to show her children how important it is to be active in the community.
The event began with a story time lead by Janene Krug, Library Director and Children's Librarian at Norma Anders Public Library in Dysart. Following the activity, the children enjoyed jumping in two bouncy houses and playing with an assortment of toys while the adults enjoyed getting to know other members of the community.
The Dysart Development Corporation also covered the cost of sandwiches, fruit, veggies, water, and juice. Lana Luze donated homemade cookies.
The event was such a success that another one has been scheduled for the morning of April 13th from 9:30 - 11:00. There will be a story time, an Easter egg hunt featuring a special guest, jump time, and light snacks.
