Marlys was a former beauty queen and high school cheerleader. Marlys and Ellsworth farmed southeast of Traer. In addition to helping on the farm, she was involved in church activities, especially creating banners, decorating the church and singing in the choir. She was always fashionably dressed. Marlys had many skills, always doing everything to perfection, especially the designing of their house on Mowery Street. She enjoyed eating out and shopping and always managed to find someone to talk with, no matter where she went! She enjoyed playing Pepper; she and Ell were quite the partners! She never turned down a chance to do a little winning at the casino. She was especially proud of her family and always enjoyed their visits. Family was most important to her and family gatherings were the highlight of her days.
