94th McNamee Reunion

June 16, 2017
Dysart Reporter

The 94th annual McNamee Reunion was held at the Dysart Community Building on Sunday, June 4th. Thirty descendents of the original McNamees who came from Ohio in the late 1900's were in attendance. There were 20 from the George McNamee family, 10 from the Amor McNamee family.

A delicious potluck was enjoyed by all, followed by the annual business meeting. The meeting was opened with the singing of "America" with Reda Charmichael as pianist, and President Kendall Crawford presided. The secretary's report was given by acting Secretary, Donna Lindeman, and Treasurer Pam Whitmore gave the treasurer's report. The meeting was closed by singing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" with Reda Charmichael again playing.

Alan Summers (son of Judy and Roger Summers) suggested setting up a Facebook account for the Iowa McNamees and agreed to take care of doing that.

After the meeting, the guests enjoyed desserts and home-made ice cream which was brought by Kenny Bahr. They reminisced, took pictures, told stories, and looked at picture albums and record books from previous reunions. It was interesting to look at who had been at each reunion, dating back to the first one in 1923.

Next year's reunion will again be at the Dysart Community Building on the first Sunday in June.

Those attending were from Independence, Dysart, Buckingham, Mt. Auburn, Toledo, Tama, Waterloo, La Porte City, Cedar Falls, Bondurant, North English, and Ankeny as well as from El Cajon, CA.
