Seven Union groups advance to Large Group State

Large Group Speech from Union High competed in a delayed District contest on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Cascade High School, with seven groups advancing to the State contest this weekend at Waterloo West High School.

"We had a hectic but overall successful day this past Saturday at our district speech contest in Cascade," Ali Leytem, Speech Instructor said. "We had seven groups advance to state, including two musical theaters, two ensemble acting groups, one act play, varsity short film, and all-freshman directed short film. The whole team performed well and many have gained experience from their events and judges' comments. This is always my favorite part of contests."

To move on to State, a group must achieve a Division I rating from their judges at Districts. Listed are the seven groups moving on to State Contest and the students who make up these groups:

The One Act Play, “Bang Bang You’re Dead”, rehearses for Districts in January. The group will move on to State this weekend at Waterloo West High School.
