Pipho and Gingrich break ground for new dentistry office

Doctors Robert Pipho and Sarah Gingrich will be moving their family dentistry office in Dysart just across the street this fall as they address the needs of their practice to continue in town.

Currently located at 407 Wilson Street, the practice will be moving to a larger location to be constructed over the fall to address lack of space for the growing business and the aging population of Dysart

"The main issues we found when we first thought to renovate our current building were parking is terrible and there's only a ramp at our front door," Gingrich said. "As our population ages, that ramp becomes a problem. Stuff has changed since this practice was opened 55 years ago. The hallways are not wide enough for wheelchairs any longer, the equipment is hanging on the edge of being updated. With those issues in mind, we decided to build a new building."

The property was acquired by Pipho approximately three years ago and originally had a house built on it, which was torn down to clear the corner lot. A larger practice and improved parking lot is scheduled to be finished in late November of late December as the weather has delayed ground work.

"Our new practice will have five laboratories, but will start off with three in use," Gingrich said. "This building will allow us to have more room to treat more patients. We're using a lot of local contractors so others in the city can benefit."

Gingrich added that "quite a few people" have expressed interest in the current office after it is vacated. More details will come at a later time. For now, Gingrich and Pipho are focused on moving the practice and taking advantage of the tax abatement program passed in Dysart this past spring.

"When we knew we had to do something different and do a new building, Dysart wasn't offering it at the time while La Porte City had just passed their version," Gingrich said. "When Dysart passed their tax abatement, it made it that we could stay in the community. Between our two offices in La Porte and Dysart, we provided a lot rural service for the insurances we take. To keep it in Dysart is great. We're grateful for all the community support for to stay here and we hope this new practice will allow us to serve our patients better."

Pipho and Gingrich Family Dentistry has operated in Dysart since July of 2016. Pipho had purchased the property from Dr. Michael McLaughlin in 2015 when McLaughlin celebrated 50 years of business in Dysart. Currently, the practice is open in their original location Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information about Pipho and Gingrich Family Dentistry and their new office, call (319) 476-4110 during business hours.
